The Employment Act of 1946 gave more responsibility for promoting purchasing power, production, and employment to the Federal government. Provisions mandating Federal spending to keep unemployment low and avoid “boom and bust” cycles in the economy were cut from the bill act, and “full employment” was deleted from the title.
