...make a convenient wagon road through their land between the settlements...and the same shall be a high way for the citizens of the United States, and the Chickasaws.

Some Chickasaw benefitted from a trade route, but the road also encouraged more non-Indian settlement that eventually encroached on Chickasaw territory.
...the President of the United States of America, shall...assist the Chickasaws to preserve entire all their rights against the encroachments...

The Federal Government had difficulty controlling non-Indian settlement on the frontier, and often could not or would not enforce treaty terms.

This treaty “of reciprocal advantages and mutual convenience” enabled the expansion of the Natchez Trace, an early 19th-century trading route.
