“The Government Has Arrested Me and Interned Me”, 1917

By profession I am an evangelical-Lutheran minister. As such I have never failed in the general prayers to mention the President and the Government of this country, and to exhort my congregation to support the Government, especially in time of the present war, with all its power. This is evidenced by the fact that they have raised a sum of money for the benefit of the Red Cross. Nevertheless, the Government has arrested me and interned me without giving me any chance for a hearing.

In this petition, Reverend Krauleidis declared that he was never allowed a hearing and not fully informed of the grounds for his arrest. His petition was denied, and he was not released from internment until after the war.
