Juanita Jackson visits Scottsboro Boys in Prison 1937

Juanita Jackson, the NAACP’s first National Youth Director, visited the Scottsboro Boys in prison and organized letter writing campaigns to protest their convictions. The NAACP initially declined to support them because of the politically explosive nature of rape charges against black men.
