Letter to the Commission on Civil Rights 1960

Issaquena County was considered too dangerous for the Mississippi Freedom Movement organizers to enter. Norman E. Simpson, a field representative for the United States Commission on Civil Rights, reported in this letter that even the single largest taxpayer there didn’t dare to vote because of the color of his skin.
