Paul Robeson helped Jackie Robinson’s career by encouraging club owners to end segregation in professional baseball. Nevertheless, Robinson complied when asked to denounce Robeson at a HUAC hearing. He came to regret his action and to respect the sacrifices Robeson had made in speaking out against injustice
