A letter regarding racial discrimination

A letter regarding racial discrimination November 17, 1942

W.B. Sanders wrote this letter to President Roosevelt complaining of discrimination in the Boilermakers Union. The union created “auxiliary unions” for African Americans. Black members paid dues, but white locals appointed their leadership, who rarely raised issues such as discriminatory practices to the larger union.
